THREE STAGE ROCKET - NOMURA / NIKKO - JAPAN

ADMINDATA

A large and elaborate space toy that attempts to reflect the multistage rockets of the time. Tin silver battery operated rocket has a jet plane look with large swept back wings.

The unique feature of the rocket is, of course, the fact that it comprises three distinct sections that separate. The front section has small wings and a red plastic dome: it becomes a Fireball XL5 like space vehicle. The other two components do not look like anything other than incomplete parts. The middle section has an on off button that activates the battery operated bump and go action.

Marked USAF. The toy is marked TN but also carries the Nikko NK logo. The box has been seen with a label that states that this is an exclusive for Italy.

Appears in the catalog for the 1st Japan International Toyfair in 1962 and it still features in the 1964 Nomura catalog.
Also seen in a 1965 Pathe film.
