BUCK ROGERS 25TH CENTURY ROCKET SHIP - MARX - USA

Lithographed tinplate windup rocket ship. Advances with spark. 1934 Louis Marx Buck Rogers 25th Century Rocket Ship Cruiser Tin Litho Windup Space Toy. When wound, the rocket ship moves forward while emitting a shower of sparks out of the exhaust and a space "boing boing" noise is made. Features sparking exhaust, space sound, all tin construction with detailed, multi-colored lithography and embossed parts.

This rocket has a classic retro design consistent with the early Buck Rogers films: sweeping bird like wings and top fin, webbed fin, small tin dome and character graphics derived straight from the Sunday comic strips. Widely on sale in late 1934.

Printed on the bottom of the toy is a picture of Buck Rogers and it reads: Buck Rogers 25th Century, Louis Marx & Co 200-5th Ave NY USA Patented March 15, 1927 1, 621,266 with the early Marx toy logo. 24cm
