TALKING ROBOT - YONEZAWA/NGS - JAPAN

ADMINDATA

Tin friction & battery operated skirted robot. Friction operated robot with free swinging arms. Battery operated voice broadcasts 4 different messages. Based on the Yonezawa skirted robot body shape but this is a significantly different robot. The motor has been removed to make way for a talking mechanism. A simple friction motor and a non-lighting head have been installed. The head has the same control room with tiny pilots as seen on Mr Mercury and the rare Jupiter Robot.

The main variation is the Cragstan logo on the chest: some have it, some don't. Numbers appear roughly equal.

One variation exists with an NGS logo on the box instead of the the Yonezawa logo. It is not yet clear what the NGS - Yonezawa connection is. The robot seems identical.

Differences have been noted in the talking mechanism.

There are at least four box versions
1.NGS/Cragstan box with artwork showing the Cragstan logo on the robot's chest.
2.Yonezawa (non-Cragstan) box with artwork showing the Cragstan logo on the robot's chest.
3.Yonezawa/Cragstan box with artwork showing the Cragstan logo on the robot's chest.
4.Yonezawa logo, Japanese box art.

The Talking Robot first appeared in the 1965 Spiegel catalog.
