SWIVEL-O-MATIC ASTRONAUT - HORIKAWA - JAPAN

Tin battery operated astronaut robot with guns in the chest plate. Rotates. Early versions were all tin. Later ones had plastic arms and head, also the robot has small plastic covers (lenses) over the small dials in the lower chest deleted in later robots of this type.

The characteristic of a Swivel-O-Matic is the doorless chest plate that hinges at the bottom. The chest plate swings forward and down, and the guns fire with flashing lights.

In the Bi-Rite catalog for 1967-8 and in the Montgomery Ward Christmas Catalog for 1969 it is pictured with the name "Marty Martian".
