ROTO-ROBOT LATER VERSION - HORIKAWA - JAPAN

ADMINDATA

These robots have little in common with the innovative and imaginative original Roto-Robot. In fact this is just a revival of the name first used on the earlier line of robots. Wedge shaped feet.

Horikawa released two versions of the Roto-Robot, one in the usual black-brown color, and a "metal printed" or lithographed version in red, blue and yellow. Each version had its dedicated box. 10 1/2" (26cm). Date? There is a Japanese box version of the plain robot.

There's nothing distinctive or innovative in this robot: the emphasis is on economy. The tin and plastic battery operated robot has the Rotate-O-Matic action with flashing lights and guns behind opening chest doors. The arms are vinyl. The plastic head has a large chrome eye panel and ears. Rotates.

Note that the brown version (the 1st one with Japan box) appears as new in 1977 SH catalog art 5028, 11"

No date is yet known for the red feet yellow door version art 5069 in a Japanese catalog but probably 80’s
