NEW GEAR ROBOT, MOVING GEAR AND SPARKING - HORIKAWA - JAPAN

Plastic wind up robot. See through gear action. "Electronic Room with sparking". This robot has 4 gears in chest: usually 2 large yellow above 2 smaller red, though this arrangement can vary. Truncated pyramid head. Small fly eyes, sometimes with red pupils. This is reworking of the Gear/Engine Robot design but in a completely plastic shell. English and Japanese box versions depicting a space landscape.

This toy was possibly made by Suzugen for Horikawa. 21cm.

Versions:
The blue robot with no red eye is new in the 1972 catalog and is still available in the 1977 catalog.
The silver chrome version is new in the 1977 SH catalog and still there in 1980.
There is a box version with "Einco Made in Japan" on the front.
The red version is new in the 1981 catalog,
The gold chrome version with the Sky Robot type arm is in the 1985 catalog as the New Gear Robot, Article No 5074 - it could be earlier.

Variations (below) include various gear size and color arrangements and the presence of a red eye on some examples.
