NEW ASTRONAUT, VERSION 1 - HORIKAWA - JAPAN

The first version of this style of robot. Plastic battery operated robot, three hinged chest guns. Silver plastic eyes. Rotates. The face has large eyes. The erars are made up of a complicated series of cylinders. The feet have a pronounced wedge shape.

Virtually all of the external metal has now been replaced by plastic. There is nothing to justify the name "astronaut", either on the robot or the box art. There is a later version with red plastic eyes/ visor.

Art 5023 new in 1977 SH catalog and still there in 1980 (the version 2 replaced it in 1981)
