FIGHTING ROBOT, FIRST VERSION - HORIKAWA - JAPAN

ADMINDATA

Tin battery operated robot with a single gun hinged in the chest and poking through a clear plastic chest panel. The chest plate benind the screen has elaborate litho detailing. Rotating gears inside a clear cone shaped dome on the head. The robot advances with rotating gears while the chest gun swivels from side to side and shoots with flashing light.

Widely advertised from October 1965 on.

There are two versions of this robot, apart from the astronaut version. The usual version (pictured) has a clear head dome with revolving gears and two vertical shoulder antennas (rod and ball). The other version is a robot version of the Fighting Space Man with loop/hoop antennas and a yellow head dome. This second version has been seen in a 1968 Gertz Christmas Catalog.

In the earliest catalogs the Fighting Robot is called the "Artillery Robot", probably a working title.
29cm

Notice the three different catch configurations for the battery door: this was a long-lived robot and clearly modifications were made to the design.

Variations seen:
Green switch with large tin hands
Red switch with large tin hands
Red switch thick tin hands, the battery box is white tin but there seem to be some changes on the battery door
