ENGINE ROBOT WITH ELECTRONIC ROOM, PLASTIC LEG VERSION - HORIKAWA - JAPAN
Brown tin and plastic battery op robot. 9 inches. Walks, gears spin, light flashes in yellow plastic head dome and celluloid eyes, visible engine. The opening in the chest revealing part of the motor is the "Electronic room". Four gears behind clear plastic chest: two small green on top, two large red below. The box art shows the earlier red and yellow gear combination.
This is a later version of the Gear Robot with Visible Gears Mechanism but it has plastic legs and feet instead of the earlier metal. This marks a transition between tin and plastic as the material of choice for toys. The metal version first appeared in Aldens Christmas Catalog for 1964.
