PYROTOMIC DISINTEGRATOR RIFLE - PYRO - USA

ADMINDATA

Large (20 inch) hard plastic space rifle, classic futuristic styling in gold with silver detailing. Turning the crank causes the reciprocating barrel to recoil with a loud noise. The gun featured in the May 1953 issue of "Chain Store Magazine". Box? Packaging?

The gun has four vents in the side near the barrel. On sale as late as August 1958.

A patent for the rifle was filed and published in 1953. Pat No: 170168 Inventor: Grover C. Schaible

IMPORTANT: There are known fakes but they have a unique "tell". The cranks on Pyro rifles have a weak spot that often cracks. The fake rifles have the crack but it was cast from the mold. In other words, who ever made the fakes made a mold of the crank with a crack in it.
