Eagle
A few yrs ago I became Enamored with Soviet block Space toys. Since then I grab what I can. I have downloaded an utilized All the photographic translators and such. The toys are sometime on the crude side but pretty well made..Well except for the single core wire that looks like it came out of an old Ma Bell switching station. Here is my Question. Do any of you also collect these toys and hopefully you know some of the history of the manufacturing or even the yrs built. I'm think the more vibrant well made pieces came out of East Germany. Some from Yugoslavia and possibly Ukraine. I read an article from previous children in the CCCP in regards to toys. Most said their Fathers or friends built their toys mostly out of wood. So who were these manufactured for ? The Party members or export ? Thanks for any information.

6Stelab9
Here a page of the russian book about space toys: This toy appears on a French Christmas catalogue for 1966. What is strange is the toy appears but there is no letter to give the description nor the price so it was cancelled of the sale or it's an error. A picture featuring the toy. I think the man on the right is Youri Gagarine. Note the high wheel robot

Eagle
Sure,I'll take a few today. I think most of these tracked platforms like the Planet Explorer were used for many different vehicle configurations.
Mick_B
Hey Eagle, if you do not have it, look for the book 6Stelab9 shares an image from. Its a reasonable resource, but you do have to use a translator on it. sometimes limited on the info though. with some searching they can be found, and for much less than the $500 currently on ebay. Its apparently autographed. I enjoy these toys too. Mostly robots but it is the only part of the collection where I let spacemen, and spaceships slip in. recently got a box from Poland with more, unfortunately the other vehicles are on the bottom. I only have a few boxes for some of these and would love to see more of your stuff and the boxes. I have a couple friends that are good with translating Russian and can get their help if needed. Cheers! some of these pieces have come from other Alphadromers over the years.
K-9
Mick_B, I enjoy these toys too and yes the book can be had for less. There are two editions, I was able to locate a new 2nd edition for $100. I really like your display by way, you’ve got a great representation of Soviet era Eastern European robots and space toys!
