robothut
I want to make a complete list of all the pinball machines that have a robot theme. Pinball machine are after all as robotic as you can get. Made of motors, gears, cogs, relays, solenoids, lights, switches and so on. The problem with making a Robot Themed pinball machine list is that most pinball machines that have robots in the back glass or case / play field artwork do not have the word robot in there names, so the only way to find them all is to see the pinball machines. For example the earliest robot pinball machine I know of right now is the 1961 machine made by Gottlieb called EGG HEAD. You can see and read about it here.http://www.ipdb.org/machine.cgi?gid=758the back glass artwork is great with a robot playing Tic Tak Toe and a scientist controlling the robot with a big computer. So far I have found 23 pinball machines with Robots pictured in the artwork or with a robot theme. Can any of you find any earlier than the 1961 EGG HEAD?I will list the machines found in this link.I have also included links to web sites where you can see that machines on the lists.1961 EGG HEAD Gottlieb http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=758&picno=7351971 ASTRO Gottlieb http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=99&picno=230991974 DUOTRON Gottlieb http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=744&picno=184421974 MAGATRON Gottlieb http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=1519&picno=14561978 PINBALL POOL Gottlieb http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=1795&picno=143241978 SPACE GAMBLER Playmatic Spain http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=2250&picno=362211979 SOLAR RIDE Gottlieb solid state http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=2239&picno=68681979 SOLAR RIDE Gottlieb Electro Mechanical http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=4769&picno=122231979 XENON Bally http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=2821&picno=31721979 STAR BATTLE Diverama Brazil http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=4816&picno=311441980 TIME LINE Gottlieb http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=2564&picno=62201980 BUCK RODGERS Gottlieb http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=392&picno=75901980 EMPIRE STRIKES BACK Hankin http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=2868&picno=258481980 COUNTERFORCE Gottlieb http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=575&picno=126651984 ROBOT Zaccaria http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=1977&picno=148591985 WORLD DEFENDER Nuova Bell Games Italy http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=3519&picno=58911985 CYBERNAUT Bally http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=614&picno=208651985 GAMATRON Pinstar http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=984&picno=37161986 PINBOT Williams First in a series of three robot themed machines from Williams. http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=1796&picno=17371986 GENESIS Gottlieb http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=996&picno=133131987 STAR WARS Sonic http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=4513&picno=67871988 ROBO-WAR Gottlieb http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=1975&picno=90181990 ROBO COP Data East http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=1976&picno=156921991 Party Zone Bally http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=1764&picno=147151991 THE MACHINE BRIDE OF PINBOT Williams second in the series of robot themed machines by Wiliams http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=1502&picno=14311991 TERMINATOR 2 Williams http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=2524&picno=53451992 LA RETATA Geiger Automatenbau GMBA Germany http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=4440&picno=345301992 DOCOTOR WHO Bally http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=738&picno=7111991 STAR WARS Data East http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=2358&picno=22411993 STAR TRECK NEXT GENERATION Williams http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=2357&picno=52691993 TWIGHT ZONE Bally http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=2684&picno=25461995 JACK BOT Williams Last in the series of three robot themed machines by Williams. http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=3619&picno=71171997 STAR WARS TRILOGY Sega http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=4054&picno=77021998 LOST IN SPACE Sega http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=4442&picno=214221999 STAR WARS EPISODE 1 Williams http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=4458&picno=31432003 TERMINATOR 3 Stern http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=4787&picno=11917
robothut
1974 Gottlib made DUOTRON and MAGATRON. These robot pinball machine are the same except that DUOTRON is a two person machine and MAGNOTRON is a 4 person machine. AS with EGG HEAD these machines are what is called Electro Mechanical. All pinball machines before the mid to late 1970s were Electro Mechanical compared to SOLID STATE and computer controled machines that realy stated in 1977 / 1978.here is the link for infor and pictures.http://www.ipdb.org/search.pl?any=magnatro...earchtype=quick
robothut
1978 PINBALL POOL, this game has a realy cool Robot playing pool, also this game was right when the pinball machine were changeing from all electro mechanical to solid state, so it has the electronic score dispays and instead of the chimes ans bells that older machines have it has electromic tones that sound alot like the old PONG game. I have added this game to the Robot Hut Museum.http://www.ipdb.org/machine.cgi?gid=1795

robothut
1986 PIN-BOT. Any one that has been to Joes The Robot Museum has seen and probably played PIN-Bot. Its what got me thinking of pinball machines as robots and wondering what other robot machines might be out there. I have also bought and rebult a Pin_Bot machine for the Robot Hut.http://www.ipdb.org/machine.cgi?gid=1796
Phil R
John, how about my other vintage hero, Flash Gordon, Bally, 1981. :D
robothut
1986 Genesis. Not the band the pinball machine. It has by far the crapiest box artwork of any pinball machine I have seen but it does have a cool robot transformation display built in to the playfeild.http://www.ipdb.org/machine.cgi?gid=
Phil R
Forgot the playing surface for flash Gordon.
robothut
Phil as far as I can tell the Flash Gordon does not have any robots in the art work of the pinball game, so its out.

robothut
1990 ROBO COP. I have seen some web sites that think this machine is crap, but its clear they either do not how to play it or there machine is not working right, I have bought and rebult a Robo Cop machine for the Robot Hut Museum and it is very challenging to play, it can have 3 captive ball (in jail) and let them all go for a 3 ball multi play, also has actual sound bites from the film and a jump ramp where the ball flies over the top of the play feild. It also has Stereo sound effects.http://www.ipdb.org/machine.cgi?gid=1976
