I’ve glossed over this “Patrol Robot” a bit, but this Smoking Spaceman head variation on the standard Papa San Patrol Robot arrived this week as well.

This guy came to me as non working, but a careful tab procedure and a repaired broken solder and this guy is running strong. A bit of polish and wax and he is looking great as well. Though I am kicking myself for not seeing about a light in the head while I had it opened up. I think I see a bulb in there and it now haunts me like Poe’s Tell Tale Heart.

I’m thrilled to have picked up these unique Robert Johnson pieces of late and the seller seems pleasant enough. But the packing does leave a bit to be improved upon. 3rd time buying from this seller. Always the same absence of any packing material. All is well that ends well I suppose.

Bringing these works of art back to life!  Bravo!

At least they didn't show up like this one to me a few years back.  AND there was a plastic 'bot in this one with no real packing (GSP re-boxed along way), shaken to itty-bitty-bits...too much trouble to return from Canada so in a rare move I trashed it.  Found another one from Leon shortly after that showed up fine.

Here is video of Robert’s G Johnson’s Devil Robot conversion. The attachment of the head requires attention and one wire connection to the chest light must be repaired. But I managed a temporary fix to get all functions working for the video. Really great robot.

I believe that I have rescued at least two more of Robert’s one-offs. I purchased these from the same seller who sold me Robert’s Devil one off and the Lighthammer. In neither instance did the seller mention Robert or PapaSan. However, in the case of the Devil and the Lighthammer, these have already been documented as Robert’s in a thread started by Roboto. The new robots look very similar to this Frankenstein by Robert that Ranger has shared. Here is Ranger’s photo of the Frankenstein.

And here are photos of the two robots in question. There is a 3rd. However, it is incomplete. What do y’all think? Can anyone confirm if these are Robert’s work?

Great additions with The Phantom of the opera and The invisible man.  Papa-san did many one off Customs that were sold thru ebay.  I did not save pics on all of them at the time due to the fact quite a few  sold out fast.  I would have to say that yes they are creations by Robert! just like the Batman they had for sale in 2012.

Thanks Roboto. Thanks for weighing in. I trust your opinion as you do seem to be more knowledgeable on the subject than  most. Love the Batman!

As you can see with this photo Papa-san was using that Glass dome on quite a few robots like this one Called Dr. Galaxy.

How do you keep coming up with more of these wonderful photos Roboto?! Amazing. This would look great in the cabinet as well. Come on dear robot collecting friends, it is time to fork over your Papa Sans. You know none of you guys want these old clunky Frankenbots taking up valuable space in your cabinets. Send them to me and I will see that they are properly disposed of, for the good of the planet. 🤷‍♂️

Pardon the heavy handed use of reverse psychology folks.

Thanks AR. I’ve done several searches now and haven’t been abIe to find the right size. However, I do have a plastic Dome that is the right diameter. It is just excessively tall. I will most likely be cutting this one down to size for the job. I also have a beehive lens to serve as the inner red lens. I don’t think that it is exactly a match. But it is a good fit and resembles the original build well enough. I may leave the clear dome loose in case I ever find a better dome or inner lens. I just need the right paint and something to serve as the ears as I really cannot figure out what the heck Robert used for the original, and I’ll be set to assemble.

WOOHOO!!!!!! I just discovered the missing head for the Lighthammer on eBay. Same seller that I bought the headless body from last year. But I don’t think the seller is aware the two parts go together as the toys they are selling come from the son’s collection. I am thrilled to be able to make Robert’s old one off whole again. Again I say woohoo!!!!
