RoboDerby
Love the mixed metal look. I agree other brass accents such as the ears would look cool as well.

Ranger
Thanks! Made some feet and ears out of brass this afternoon. I think I will go with a few brass parts, it looks ok. I think if I make anymore I will make the feet a little larger.
Morbius
Beautiful work, reminds me of 20,000 leagues under the sea diving suit. I love orange robots, copper ones even more! Brilliant work.
Ranger
Thanks morbius. Yes I thought at the time I was experimenting with the rivet effect that it was starting to look like a deep sea diver! Maybe Foki was originally based on one? RoboDerby
Love that you are making progress on this. Fingers crossed that you will be making more!
Ranger
I will maybe make a couple more if this one turns out ok. As I said, this is very much just a trial run version. Once I have all the templates and sizes and the best methods/ways to make it and put it together etc written down then the next one should be a little easier. I think I may make the ‘normal’ size foki also in copper and brass. I am thinking that the bigger one is actually easier to make at the moment. roboz
Wow that looks amazing !! I'm partial to copper & brass in a general sense but it works exceptionally well in your execution If you have a list please add me to it

Ranger
yes, folki art! Waiting for a few bits to arrive in the post so I just had a go at casting up some white metal hands. Well, one anyway. It came out ok. Seems to be just the right size for this particular robot. Now I will remove the sprue and go and cast another one up if I get time this evening. Golddalek
Cool...I seen youtube videos on sand casting, even Robotics Age magazine in the 1980s had an article on sand casting as an option for making robot parts. interesting....
