space.trucks
I know I've seen these around before, maybe Processed Plastic? Would be interested in knowing which rocket it came from. Have a particular fondness for the Gemini spacecraft and would dig knowing what to look for. Not that it doesn't look handsome on that pharmacy jar cap. Golddalek
Very detailed for it's small size....I'm impressed. Great find.
space.trucks
Right on man! And the astronaut base came loose from its pegs. Here's a look. With game token astronauts. Sculpture Garden Memorial to Gus Grissom & Ed White, Cestus III. So that would be Roger Chafee. Looks like he's straightening his tie.
Andyman
The capsule came from a 4 stage Gemini rocket. The piece the capsule sits on was spring loaded and would launch the capsule. Mine became too fragile as the launcher was breaking the capsule apart.
space.trucks
Dude!!! Rockin', that's what I recall seeing, had presumed they were related and thank you -- Is it a Processed Plastics toy? I know I've seen similar rockets which did not have space capsules, more missile forms but with stages which would go shooting off. Plastic that hard impacting wood floors or walls -- The way I played with my rockets I would have destroyed it inside of a month.
Andyman
Yes, Processed Plastics. They later modified it to look more like an Apollo capsule when the moon landings happened. BTW-I think the plastic capsule is suffering degradation from overpowered spring action from the launcher. It's knocking both the astronauts and the window out of place. space.trucks
Rockin' info: passed up on the Apollo variant couple weeks ago out of poverty but had a feeling it was related. Those were built to be destroyed! Nice hard plastic. Good cracking velocity. They'll be back for another. One of the selling points on the capsule was that it's window was intact with no cracks. Had passed up on window-less examples previously and bit deep upon seeing this was intact. Just, missing its rocket
JC Carbonel
The capsule is so much better than the rocket ! JCC
