Joe K.
Notice anything odd about this 1935 Christmas photo? Andyman
Other than the parents are ghosts?
Ultrarobotman
Maybe that's why they stopped using real candles on the tree?
robothut
Oh for the days when cheep cameras had to manualy advanced after you take a picture orther wise you get a double exposure. These days that would be a special effect back then it was a way of life.
Tinplate6
A rather stoic looking lot, aren't they?
Racerxc70
Just wondering if those are real candles?
Fineas J. Whoopie
Yes they actually lit real candles on Christmas trees. This pic brings to mind several questions - like wasn't this during the depression? if that is one years haul for those kids you would expect the picture to be taken in a mansion wouldn't you? Or did they drag out every toy they owned for this picture? And I agree that it is a double exposure, but those two adults are perfectly placed in that pic. By chance? Andyman
Maybe the father was taking the pic and walked into the shot whilst exposure was happening?
Joe K.
As I see it, there are three possible explanations: 1. The parents are ghosts. 2. Unintentional double exposure. 3. Intentional double exposure. See this link: https://www.americanhauntingsink.com/spirit-photography
