A look at what this first version looks like at night with its display!  Also as you can see they removed K-9s upper and rear hold handle on the newer Dark Gray version.

History on K-9s Mk versions.

K9 Mark I

K9 first appeared in the 1977 Doctor Who story The Invisible Enemy. K9 was created by Professor Marius in the year 5000. The Professor was a scientist working for the Bi-Al Foundation in the Centre for Alien Biomorphology on the asteroid K4067. The Doctor and his companion Leela helped Professor Marius defeat an alien virus. After the virus was defeated the professor asked if the Doctor to keep K9 and look after him.

After many adventures with the Doctor, K9 Mark I stayed behind on Gallifrey to look after Leela.

The original K9 Mark I first appeared in The invisible Enemy which aired in 1977, He last appeared in The K9 Series, Regeneration which first aired in 2009.

K9 Mark II

After the Doctor had said goodbye to Leela and K9 he entered the Tardis and brought out a large box with K9 Mark II written on it. Inside was a brand new K9 model.

K9 Mark II was the first model that the Doctor built himself. Eventually K9 Mark II stayed behind in E-space with Romana.

K9 Mark II first appeared in The Ribos Operation which aired in 1979, He last appeared in Warriors Gate which aired in 1981.

K9 Mark III

In the 1981 TV story K9 and Company Sarah Jane Smith went to visit her Aunt Lavinia. Unfortunately Sarah Jane just missed her Aunt leaving for a lecture tour in America.

Inside the lounge was a large crate Sarah Jane’s Aunt had brought round, inside was K9 Mark III that the Doctor had left for her in 1978.

“Give Sarah Jane Smith my fondest love, Tell her I will remember her always” was the message left with K9 from the Doctor.

K9 Mark III first appeared in K9 and Company, A Girl’s Best Friend which aired in 1981, He last appeared in School Reunion which aired in 2006.

K9 Mark IV

K9 Mark III got destroyed after defeating the Krillitanes so the Doctor built Sarah Jane a new one.

K9 Mark IV is currently helping Sarah Jane, Luke, Clyde and Maria in the Sarah Jane Adventures.

K9 Mark IV first appeared in School Reunion which aired in 2006

K9 Mark I.2

In the year 2059 Professor Gryffen was conducting experiments with an alien Space Time Manipulator. The original K9 got pulled through with some other aliens. K9 was forced to self destruct saving London from the aliens. With help from Starkey K9 was able to regenerate. After K9 regenerated he had no memory of where he came from.

Over the years K9s collar remained the same for all but one in the K9 version M 1.2!

K9 — occasionally written as K-9 or K9 — was the designation given to a series of intelligent, dog-like robots who served as companions of Professor Marius, the Fourth Doctor, Leela, Romana, the Mistress, Sarah Jane Smith, Luke Smith, Starkey, and the Tenth Doctor.

K9 Mark I, II, III, and IV addressed whoever was directing them as "Master" or "Mistress" depending upon gender, and used the formal "affirmative" and "negative" rather than "yes" and "no". They were programmed to be both loyal and logical, with a penchant for taking orders literally, almost to a fault. Their striped collars mirrored the Fourth Doctor's trademark scarf.

New Time Lord sets coming next year!

Each of the five sets will contain two Time Lords, faithfully recreated as hand-painted polyresin figurines at 1:21 scale (approximately 3.5 inches tall), complete with an in-depth companion magazine – highlighting the history, costumes, and stories behind these characters from the longest-running science fiction show on television!

The first Doctor Who Time Lords box set reunites two old friends – The Curator (Tom Baker) and the second incarnation of Romana (Lalla Ward).

The Curator was a mysterious Time Lord played by Tom Baker, the iconic actor behind the Fourth Doctor. In his brief meeting with Matt Smith’s Doctor, he hinted that he might be another incarnation of the Doctor – who knows? Who knows. The figurine captures the older Time Lord’s pensive air, one arm leaning on a cane and the other stroking his chin.

Romana (or Romanadvoratrelundar) was a rare Time Lord companion on the Doctor’s adventures, and (even rarer) his academic superior. Initially haughty, she and the Doctor soon warmed to each other. The figurine depicts Romana in her second incarnation, played by Lalla Ward, clad in her voluminous scarf and coat (echoing the Doctor’s own iconic outfit).

The Curator & Romana Box Set is going to be solicited in the January Diamond PREVIEWS catalogue, and will be available direct from HeroCollector.com or your favourite retailer in March 2020.

The box set joins Hero Collector’s ongoing range of 1:21 scale Doctor Who figurines, which explore aliens, monsters, robots, humans and Doctors from over five decades of classic science fiction TV.
