Gatethorn
For problems with slipping gears, or gear/shaft replacements, I'd recommend looking on the Scalectrix/Slot-Car racing forums. Slot-car racers are forever changing their gearing ratios with different pionions and drive gears. Consequently, there's a huge selection of metal and plastic gears available. Better still, the gears (not the pionions) often attach to the shaft with grub screws, rather than by friction fit. It's still recommended you glue them (after testing) as the grub screws can work loose, but you don't need to loosen or remove the gear when you're ready to glue it, as capillary action will draw the cyno glue between the shaft and the gear hub, because (unlike friction fit) the fit of grub screw secured gears leaves a slight gap. Hope this helps - Rick
