Joe K.
Starting in 2001, Mattel released scaled down versions of the iconic 1964 Rock'em Sock'em Robots by Marx. They've gone back to that well one more time. Here's the latest redone box art work: Spotted at my local Target store for about $20.
kennetzel
I have this set...and it doesn't compare to the originals at all. First of all it is smaller, as you stated. This makes it difficult to play. Not to mention, the heads don't "zing" like the originals. I was not happy with my purchase of this set. Luckily I have two of the originals and I get to experience the actual thrill of playing I had as a kid.
Joe K.
This BIN listing seems to indicate that Mattel has gone back to the well, yet one more time again: https://www.ebay.com/itm/RockEm-SockEm-Robots-The-Original-Fighting-Robots-2017-mattel-NEW/222998868036?hash=item33ebc4b044:g:fT0AAOSwukVbDxpb The heads flip back rather than pop up. This seems to be even a smaller version than the set released in 2016. Anybody seen this in the retail stores?
Joe K.
Here they are out of the box and assembled: One site calls them "travel size".
