Joe K.
Quick Quiz. How many things can you find 'wrong' with this "Zoomeray"? HINT: It's a knock-off.
cowens
I've had this gun in my collection for a long time and honestly never looked closely at it. I feel kinda foolish, I do have several other Zoomerays for sale that are genuine, including one still in the packaging. I've updated the eBay listing to reflect that it is not genuine. Thank you Joe K for pointing that out, I definitely don't want to rip anyone off.

Hmmm... someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the "zoomeray" with a ball on top instead of three discs isn't a known European "variation"? So, not exactly a de facto "knock-off", maybe... Joe K.
Here's a February, 1953 Playthings ad: that leads me to believe the Atom Flash version was released well after the original Zoomeray gun came out in 1951. Note that the ad copy says: "Exciting new FLASH feature added to your best selling Zoomeray." The BIN listing: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1953-PAPER-AD-Tigrett-Toy-Co-Atom-Flash-Zoomerang-Gun-Jet-Zoom/153104912310?_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131231084308%26meid%3D2bd55ff4a2854bf0a478ef46757586af%26pid%3D100010%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D312079245983%26itm%3D153104912310&_trksid=p2047675.c100010.m2109
Golddalek
Yes, I seen those swirls in plastic before. My silver Zeroid has a few. .....perhaps its part of the dye that didn't mix well? 👀 Woolworth...a chain store that lasted over 100 yrs. strangely a group of retro activists are making an effort to revive the name: https://www.woolworthsusa.com/
Fineas J. Whoopie
Nice find Joe. I never connected the "Atom Flash" designation with the frill tip. Cool. Explains why the frilled examples are always boxed as the boxes were added to carry the "Atom Flash" moniker. Makes perfect sense now.
